Beauty CGI is one of the most technically demanding disciplines in product visualization. Glass, liquid, skin-toned pigments — every material has complex light interactions that must feel both scientifically accurate and emotionally compelling.

(Self-initiated concept study.)

Starting point

This self-initiated project explores the Matte Foundation line across four distinct visual treatments: a floating composition, a cinematic liquid pour scene, a dramatic chiaroscuro single-product shot, and a clean stacked product lineup.

Problem solving

The goal was to demonstrate what premium beauty CGI looks like when you push lighting and material fidelity to their limits.

TECHNICAL CHALLENGES

01 — Frosted Glass Material

Custom SSS + transmission nodes to replicate the semi-transparent, frosted bottle — visible liquid inside without full transparency.

02 — Liquid Flow Simulation

Fluid dynamics simulation for three simultaneous pour streams in different shades — each with unique viscosity and surface tension properties.

03 — Multi-shade Color Accuracy

4 foundation shades from porcelain to deep brown — each requiring custom PBR material calibration to match real-world pigment behavior under light.
